Title and Description:

Operational Assessments of 20 Northeast Groundfish Stocks

In September 2015 the Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC) will carry out Operational Stock Assessments of 20 Atlantic groundfish stocks which occur off the NE coast of the US. These stocks are managed by the New England Fishery Management Council and are included in the Northeast Multispecies Fishery Management Plan. The stocks were last assessed in 2008 and 2012. The assessments in 2015 will be peer reviewed by members of the Science and Statistical Committee (SSC), and comments from the review panel will be included in the final assessment report. The results will be published by the NEFSC and will serve as a basis for fishery management specifications starting in May 2016.
