Title and Description:
PMEL Tsunami Forecast Series: Vol. 10—A Tsunami Forecast Model for Arena Cove, California
NOAA's tsunami forecast system combines numerical models with deep-ocean tsunami amplitudes observed at DART locations during tsunami propagation to produce estimates of tsunami wave arrival times, amplitudes, and coastal inundation. The Arena Cove forecast model is one in a series of 75, each developed for integration into the NOAA tsunami forecast application for real-time forecast during a tsunami event. This report documents development of the Arena Cove model, including rigorous testing and validation with historic and synthetic tsunami events.
